How to enliven the concrete jungle in Seoul
• How to enliven the concrete jungle in Seoul
I remember, more recently, many resented the reconstruction of Tverskaya Street in Moscow, including criticizing the idea of planting linden trees along the roadway. Like, the trees take up vital space and motorists, and pedestrians.
Meanwhile, all have long forgotten that the living space of the inhabitants of cities had long since taken just not the trees, and of glass and concrete jungles, bringing greenery in cities is becoming less and less. Many cities in the world have already experienced this problem and, recollecting himself, are now forced to return the land bit by bit the plants, so that people could somehow breathe.
In the Asian megacities is particularly noticeable: first as an all green ruthlessly killed, entire neighborhoods rolled into the asphalt and build a skyscraper on one another, and now by planting bushes, grass and trees on every available inch of land. But all this is not enough catastrophically so in Seoul many plant trees ... even on the roofs of their houses, break there lawns and shrubs planted live.
In Seoul, residents no longer oppose the reconstruction and enjoy sharing sidewalks and extra centimeters of the road for planting pines mall or remote bed of grass and flowers. I think once we come to this, realizing the street without greenery become cold and lifeless.
If you climb on any roof in Seoul and look around, you will notice how everywhere on the roofs of houses with trees or bushes there just broken lawn. It is not zabroshki for which no one cares, as it may seem. Trees, shrubs and grass are planted deliberately. In this case, buying a very expensive land far outside the city, by importing it and picking up on the rooftops.
The trees are growing on the roofs of residential buildings, where they were planted by the owners of buildings or the top floor and practically vse office skyscrapers. Typically, this recreation area for employees of offices, mini-parks on the roof or restaurants.
In fact, if armed with telephoto and carefully walk on the roofs, it becomes evident that almost all of them furnished and landscaped. Indeed, why go to waste precious square meters?
Another park on the roof of a residential high-rise.
Just grass and promenade.
Such dense foliage in the center of the Asian metropolis - a luxury. But it is not a park, it's beach channel. In another city there would not be anything other than concrete slopes channel "aesthetics". In Seoul, on the contrary, it allowed the banks of the canal abundantly overgrown. However, at the same time caring for vegetation and not giving this place stop in the swamp impenetrable thickets.
There are literally shaking over every tree or bush.
Wherever there is at least a little bit of land, planting grass, shrubs and tree seedlings. And everywhere, everything looks very well maintained.
Such abundant greenery can boast, not all streets in the city center. Cost per square meter in homes on that street is very different from the houses on the streets without trees.
As in Tver, in Seoul, too, have to a little bit to win the area in concrete and granite bridge.
Where to do it is not yet possible, plants are planted in temporary portable tanks.
True and trees planted more cleverly, without strange granite pedestals.
Interestingly, in Seoul on the streets dominated by conifers over deciduous. The reason is simple: a lot less effort is required to harvest in the fall. And in the winter streets look nicer with herbs than with bare gray branches of deciduous trees.
Please note, not just along the road planted with trees planted at their base and tall grass. Though slightly, but still more green.
And even in the city hall all within a living green to support the overall trend of Seoul on landscaping.
By the way, do you think that your city is not enough green and authorities should pay more attention to its landscaping or not?
