About twins and faces
• On twin and those of
Photographer from Los Angeles Susan Swihart interested in the phenomenon of twins. She began her long-term project called "The Faces", in which she takes pictures of his daughters-twins and explores the nuances of their similarities and differences. It reveals to us enough so that we can see the personality of the girls, while not looking into their faces.
That's what she tells Susan: "Sometimes two people are born as one. They are divided, but continue to grow in parallel, day after day, centimeter by centimeter. They are developed separately and differently. They have different dreams and fears. At the same time, for many, they will always look the same. Be interchangeable. And they will be treated as a single whole. "
As a mother of twins, I have observed the phenomenon of their connection with the birth.
As a photographer and observer, I decided to explore the psychological component, the similarity and differences between my daughters.
When they realize that they are perceived as a whole, they appear completely different emotions.
At times, they also see themselves as a single entity, but always fighting for the right to have a voice and be independent.
They fight and compete.
From time to time any of them begins to grow faster.
The other is left behind, but then again comes out on top.
But most of the time they were inseparable.
They calm down, staring at each other.
They see each other as allies who are hiding behind one person.
This is a difficult, but pure love, created at the same time, from head to feet, still in the womb.
They go through life together. And I want to witness their unique journey in the world of individuals.
