The Soviet period of

Hockey club "Avangard" (Omsk) was founded more than half a century ago - in 1950. During this time the team changed a lot of names, "Spartacus", "chemist", "Shinnik", "Rubber", "Aeroflot".

The first official match of the Omsk club dates back to 1951 year. Then, in the championship of the RSFSR team played with geographical neighbors - Novosibirsk "food technologist". Four years later, the hockey club "Avangard" (at that time, "Spartacus") debuted already in the championship of the Soviet Union - and again in the match against Novosibirsk team. The meeting of two "Spartacus" (Novosibirsk then also took this very popular name) ended with a victory of Omsk with a score of 5: 2.

In the elite division of the Soviet hockey club was only four years later, in 1959. Subsequently, however, nothing more serious Omsk could not be achieved in the framework of the Soviet championship. It is understandable, because the domestic hockey of the time - it is, above all, the two great Moscow clubs - CSKA and "Spartacus." Sometimes it is diluted with the eternal confrontation two other club from Moscow "Dynamo" and "Wings of the Soviets." It is in these four teams are going to the best players of the country, which formed the backbone of the national team of the USSR.

The modern period of

Real fame club acquired much later - with the start of the championship of Russia in the nineties. Then hockey has become much less centralized, since there were powerful hockey school in Magnitogorsk ( "Metallurg"), Kazan ( "Ak Bars"), Ufa ( "Salavat Yulaev"), Tolyatti ( "Harmony"). I was no exception and Omsk. Modern "Vanguard" - hockey club, which is respected and feared competitors. And no wonder: in 1994 the team won the biggest victory in the history of Karaganda "builders" with a score of 14: 0.

With the advent of the new millennium, the hockey club "Avangard" it became known not only in the country but also throughout Europe. Omsk successfully performed not only in the domestic championship, but also in international tournaments: Engelberg Cup (2006/2007), the Continental Cup, the Volvo Cup, as well as the European Cup.

Since 2008, the "Vanguard" became a member of the Continental Hockey League. The debut season in the CHL began tragically: the death of one of the major talents of the Omsk club - Alexei Cherepanov. During the match with Chekhov's "Hero" at the 19-year-old striker's heart stopped. Doctors were unable to save the player.

"Vanguard" - hockey club, composed at different times was equipped with a real star player. That there is only one legend Jaromir Jagr, who played for Omsk twice: first from 2004 to 2005 and then from 2008 to 2011. In addition to Jagr for "Vanguard" played Maxim Sushinsky (Russia), Alexei Kalyuzhny, Sergei Kostitsyn (both - Belarus), Roman Cervenka (Czech Republic).

The main achievements of

Undoubtedly, a major success in the club's history - a gold medal of the championship of Russia in 2004 year. Then the "Vanguard" in the five games of the final series beat Magnitogorsk "Metallurgist". Also in the asset Omsk club has silver medals seasons 2000/2001, 2005/2006, 2011/2012.

Gagarin Cup, the trophy of the CHL, is still only in the team's plans. In 2012, Omsk reached the tournament finals, but eventually lost to the Moscow "Dynamo". Ironically, the washer, which has made "Dynamo" champions, scored a former player of the Omsk team - Czech Jakub Klepiš. Omsk could only boast conquered the Cup Eastern Conference (2012), which is awarded to the strongest of the East team in the regular season.

Hockey club "Avangard" otherwise called "hawks". Team logo is a direct reflection of that nickname. It combines the initial letter of the club "A" and a flying hawk, fierce attacks of the enemy. Logo appeared in the last century, its creation dates back to 1998. Its author was a local advertiser Stanislav Ivanchenko.
