• Walk on the Green Line, Lost in Time
This year marks 40 years since Cypriot National Guard staged a coup. He that led to a Turkish military intervention and escalated into a civil war between the Greek and Turkish communities on the island. After the cease-fire has been established Green Line - the UN buffer zone in Cyprus, which is a de facto separate the island of Cyprus into two parts, a Greek (southern) and Turkish (north).
The green line divides the island of Cyprus, and today, it stretches for 180 km and its width varies from 3.3 meters to 7.4 km.
Reuters news agency photographer Neil Hall was in this place where I found Lost in Time homes, businesses and even the airport.
The term "green line" was first used in 1964, when as a result of unrest between local Greeks and the Turks, the capital has been divided into Greek and Turkish parts. In 1974, after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus (the so-called Attila operation, hence the name of Attila line) of the United Nations established the Green Line as the border of the Greek and Turkish parts of the island. The green line divides the island of Cyprus today.
